In conjunction with the de Saisset’s exhibitions, SCU faculty from diverse disciplines and guest artists are invited to discuss contemporary projects on view from their specific disciplinary perspective. Faculty & Artists will lead viewers on a tour of the exhibition interpreting and highlighting objects that resonate with their own research interests. These walkthroughs are informal and conversational, and are offered to the campus community and wider audiences for free. This series is co-presented by SCU’s de Saisset Musem and Center for the Arts & Humanities. On Wednesday, October 28 from 12-12:45 p.m. join Kristin Kusanovich , Teaching Professor, Departments of Theatre & Dance and Child Studies, and 2025-2027 Frank Sinatra Chair in the Performing Arts, for a tour of The Four (Revisited) at the de Saisset Museum. Professor Kusanovich’s research interests include dance, theatre, creativity, ethics, leadership, decolonial climate communications, children’s creative dance, art education, and activism. For the program on October 28, Kusanovich will be facilitating for participants an experience of making movement and gestural choices with a system of tasks that are inspired by elements and spaces created by THE FOUR. These formal-seeming but easy to enact choreographic structures will then be imbued with poetic narratives, so participants can experience how layering artistic modalities begins to create what is commonly referred to in the theatre arts as “a world.” This process will allow participants a glimpse into the moment something transitions from being abstract to storied. Kristin will share a little bit about her new dance-theatre work for the Mayer stage entitled coherence that she is creating in Winter 2027 with Sinatra Visiting Artists MANACAN DANCE from London and South Africa, and how this iterative process being shared in the midst of THE FOUR will be used in creating that larger, evening-length work .
