Please join us on Saturday, November 7th, starting at 1:00 pm for an in-depth artist talk by Triton Museum exhibiting artist Harry Clewans. Clewans’s current exhibition, Eye/Hand, “reimagines printmaking from a process of reproduction to one of transformation. Rather than creating editions, he assembles hand-printed and-cut fragments into unique, interlocking compositions in a process spanning hundreds of hours. Each fragment originates with a printed proof pulled from his personal lexicon, a collection of carved blocks built over decades. And each block begins, in turn, with a found object – a piece of birch bark, a ball of rubber bands, a defunct mechanical device – first drawn from close observation, then carved, printed, and catalogued across his studio walls. The result is part cabinet of curiosities, part periodic table: a system in which every element contributes to a larger body of knowledge, accrued over time. Collecting, classifying, and making collapse in an ongoing process of discovery.” – excerpt of essay by Amy Halliday, international curator This event gives you the opportunity to meet the artist and learn more about him and his work, while viewing the artist’s current exhibit at the Triton Museum of Art. This event is free and open to the public (including free parking).
The Triton Museum of Art provides free parking in the public lot on the east side of the museum, which also serves the historic Jamison-Brown House behind the main building (also reachable from Don Avenue). Warburton Avenue sits just off El Camino Real and is accessible from Scott Blvd., Lincoln St., and Monroe St. By transit, the museum is a five-minute walk from the Monroe & Warburton bus stop; from the Santa Clara Caltrain station it is a 30-minute walk, or a five-minute ride on the 59 or…
