About

MATRIX 290 / Keka Enriquez: History Painting is the artist’s first solo exhibition in the United States, bringing together eight new paintings commissioned by BAMPFA in partnership with Headlands Center for the Arts. Her largest works to date, the densely layered paintings draw on the landscapes and mythologies of the United States while bringing into focus marginalized histories of migration, exclusion, and displacement. Through painting, Enriquez reconsiders what it means to make a place, and a history, her own.
