About

Free. RSVP encouraged. Seating is available first come, first served. Ever been told that serious artists don’t have day jobs, or that you can’t be a “real” artist if you’re self-taught? Join author and artist Danielle Krysa, a.k.a. the Jealous Curator, for an honest, myth-busting conversation about what it really takes to build a creative life. Krysa will read from her new book, Real Artists Wear Black, then dig into the myths that get in the way of so many artists’ careers, and the strategies for moving past them. Then it’s your turn: bring your questions and share the myths you’ve believed in a welcoming space with fellow Bay Area artists. Whether you’re just starting out or years into your practice, come ready to laugh, get fired up, and leave with fresh encouragement for your own creative path. Recommended for audiences ages 16 and older. Younger audiences are encouraged to join The Doctor Is In: Kids’ Answers to Your Art Problems with the Jealous Curator at 11 a.m. Krysa will read her children’s book How to Spot an Artist and moderate a session for kids to help adults tap into their creative spark!
