January 8 was a foggy, sleeting day in New Orleans when the American Army confronted and crushed the British Army for the final time in history. Jackson did not win the victory alone! Join us as we explore the life of a War of 1812 soldier, plot out subterfuge with spycraft, and enjoy rations of hot chocolate. We will also feature stories of lesser-known participants of the battle, like Lt. Col. Joseph Savary and the 256th Louisiana Militia Regiment of free men of color and Jordan Noble, drummer boy. Activities are designed for 5-11 years but are open to all. FREE GROUNDS ADMISSION. Mansion tours are not included but they can be added for a fee, subject to availability. Family rates are available for up to one adult and three children. Picnic space is available and leashed dogs are welcome. To guarantee your spot, we recommend purchasing tickets in advance. Walk-up tickets are subject to availability. Inclement Weather Date: Thursday, January 16, 10:00-1:00 pm. *Other events are happening site-wide on January 8 that you will want to participate in!
